Explore Houston Real Estate in Person This Summer

As Texas continues its reopening, there are lots of ways Houston real estate owners can experience the wonders of the city. More and more establishments now have in-person open hours. Most are continuing their online offerings, too. Whether you’re raring to get back to normal or still need to keep to your Houston home, there are lots of great options for summer fun.

Enjoy the Symphony in Your Houston Home on Fridays

Houston Symphony canceled its in-person concert season, which was a terrible blow to classical music fans. However, the symphony has been putting up some truly wonderful online content. Every Friday at 8 p.m., there’s a new installment of the Living Room Series. Tickets are only $10. The next one is this Friday, June 19th. Principal double bassist Robin Kesselman will give a concert with selections from Bach, Ravel, Lee R. Kesselman, and Debussy. You will also find links to the symphony’s blog, podcasts, and public radio broadcasts. Don’t miss the resources for student musicians and for families, which help bring classical music to life for children. Visit the Listen at Home page of the symphony’s website to find links to these offerings and more. Be sure to check out the symphony on social media, too, and keep up with all the latest news.

Speaking of kids, have you heard that the Children’s Museum of Houston is already open? That’s right! Now is a perfect time to renew or purchase a membership. Memberships purchased before June 30th will get an additional three months of benefits, including free admission. In order to make sure everyone is safe, there are multiple precautions in place at the Houston real estate location. First of all, you must have a timed ticket to enter. You can purchase them online. All visitors ages two and up must wear a cloth face covering. Visitors will have their temperatures taken with a thermal scanner before entering the museum. Afterward, visit the hand sanitizing bar.

Explore the museum! Some high-touch exhibits have been temporarily closed, but there are several new things to do. Take an Epic Adventure and learn lots at different Adventure Zones throughout the galleries, while keeping a safe distance from other guests. Each kid gets their own Epic Adventure Pack, which they use to gather and solve clues to earn a reward and become an official member of the Adventure Society. If you have younger kids in your group, be sure to check out the Toddler Trail Map, a guide to the museum’s modifications for the youngest visitors. Visit the Children’s Museum online to learn more and reserve your ticket.

For families sticking closer to their Houston home this summer, the museum is offering great online experiences. The Maker Annex Virtual Workshops are scheduled several times a week from 3 to 4 p.m. The workshops are free, but you must register in advance. You can also check out the Children’s Museum YouTube channel for more ideas for at-home activities.

Houston Real Estate Owners Head to the Space Center in July

Space Center Houston is scheduled to reopen on Wednesday, July 1st. Members can attend the Welcome Back days on June 28th through 30th. This is a great time to purchase or renew a Space Center membership. All members get free entry for a year and access to members-only events. Membership is an easy way to support the Space Center.

As with many other Houston attractions, the Space Center will have new protocols to minimize the risk of illness. Some of the exhibits and the theater will be closed for the time being. All guests over age two will need to wear a face covering. Six feet of distance must be maintained between groups. There are hand sanitizing stations set up all around the center. Be prepared to pay with a credit card, as new touchless machines have been installed. Cash is accepted on a very limited basis. For a limited time, parking fees have been waived. All visitors need to reserve timed tickets, to limit the number of people at the center at any one time. Galleries have a one-directional flow, to help keep physical distance.

While everyone will have to get used to this new way of visiting, there will be some cool new exhibits to see. One of these is an outdoor exhibit of a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket. Astronauts Robert Behnken and Douglas Hurley were launched from this type of rocket on May 30th of this year. The first-stage booster is 156 feet long. The Space Center is the only place outside of SpaceX headquarters to have one on display.

Visit Space Center Houston online to learn more about its reopening and reserve your ticket.

The Houston Arboretum is a beloved natural sanctuary nestled in the midst of urban Houston real estate. The arboretum is open to visitors, who are asked to wear a cloth face covering and maintain six feet of distance from one another. All the trails are open so you can see the amazing flowers and other plants, though the playground is closed.

The arboretum is again holding events in person. Community favorites like yoga classes, Bingo on the Lawn, and Saturday guided hikes are back on the calendar. Kids have the option of attending summer camp online for the entire summer. In-person camp starts the week of July 6th, and registration opens on Monday, June 22nd. Registration for virtual camp is open.

Visit Houston Arboretum online to learn more about upcoming events and to register.

It’s so exciting that Houston is opening up again for summer adventures. Sling on your mask and find some fun!
