Everyone From Houston Homes Celebrates the Easing of Social Distancing...Safely

There have been lots of changes in the response to COVID-19 over the past couple of weeks, and people in Houston homes are learning to adjust. We’ve had a couple of weeks of mandatory mask-wearing in public places. While it’s perfectly acceptable to tie a scarf or bandana around your face, you can also opt for a mask that was made for the job. Those with a sewing machine and basic sewing skills can sew their own. You can find many different patterns to use by doing a quick Google search.

On the other hand, lots of Houston designers are pivoting from making clothes and accessories to creating masks. Some are available to order online. Some shops are also offering curbside pick-up at their retail Houston real estate. Buying from a local designer is a great way to support the city’s economy while complying with the law.

Cloth & Cord offers lovely masks made of kente cloth with a pocket for a carbon filter. They run around $15 each. The company is also donating masks to healthcare workers.

Magpies and Peacocks sell masks in a variety of patterns as well as neutral solids. They are made of three layers of fabric--a layer of 100% cotton, a layer of non-woven polypropylene, and a layer of cotton blend. They start at $12 each. The sales of personal masks also offset the cost of the production of polypropylene masks for healthcare workers.

Children over age 10 are required to wear masks, too. Paty Children’s Apparel Company is making masks in both kids and adult sizes. They cost $5 to $6.50. These masks have a pocket for a filter, and one is included with each mask.

Lots of other local shops are making masks, too. Check out the Fresh Arts Instagram feed to find more.

Order Great Food for Houston Real Estate Mother’s Day Celebrations

Mother’s Day is tomorrow, and there are lots of restaurants and shops that are ready to help families in Houston homes throw a great celebration for their moms. A fabulous bottle of wine is an excellent way to start off any celebratory meal. If you’re not sure about what to pair with the meal you’ve planned, hop over to Houston Wine Merchant. Check out the staff picks section of the website or call the shop and ask for help. Pick out one bottle, put together a gift basket with a few bottles, or check out a sampler case. Each case includes three reds and three whites and two bottles of each type. You can also find rose, champagne, and several different spirits, including tequila and whiskey.

Saint Arnold Brewing Company is a favorite for many Houston real estate owners. They are offering both their delicious food and their amazing beers for curbside pickup. They’re offering several combos. Try the pizza and six-pack for just $22 or a whole chicken, two sides, and a six-pack for $36. You can also choose from one of the merch, food, and beer combos. The pizza pack includes two Saint Arnold pint glasses, a pizza, and a six-pack. The full menu of pizza, sandwiches, and salads is available, too, as well as the regular list of beers and ciders. There’s nothing like real Texas barbecue, and B&B Butchers & Restaurant is ready with a fabulous menu for curbside pickup or delivery. They’re also offering some social distancing specials. Order the Family Grill and enjoy four 10 oz center-cut filets, a pound of bacon, four TX Wagyu hotdogs, four burger patties, a 22 oz dry-aged ribeye, and a six-pack of beer.
