A Round Up of Virtual Workouts to Do in Houston Homes

Not only is it getting super hot outdoors, but we’re also all sticking close to our Houston homes because of a surge in COVID-19 cases. It’s tough to be back at home after getting to open up earlier in the spring. However, there are still lots of businesses and institutions in Houston that are offering virtual events and resources. We’ve covered quite a few in past blog posts. The library, the zoo, Discovery Park, and many museums have produced a variety of online content to interest people of all ages. One aspect we haven’t covered yet is online exercise classes. So today, we’re here with a round-up of Houston gyms and fitness studios with virtual options.

Houston real estate owners living in the Montrose neighborhood may have seen the Method Pilates Studio. Their signature workout is the Method Reformer. The 50-minute workout is a fusion of traditional Pilates moves and high-intensity training. They also offer targeted workouts, like Adore Your Core, Butts Tight AF, and Arms & Abs. The Restore & Stretch class is a full-body workout that focuses on breathing, flow, and strength.

Method Pilates Studio has re-opened, though several safety measures are in place. These include mandatory mask-wearing, increased sanitizing, and class size limits. The studio opens 10 minutes before class starts, and latecomers cannot be accommodated. Another option is to schedule an individual, duet, or small group class privately. Email the studio at [email protected] to discuss your options.

In addition to in-person classes, the studio continues to offer streamed classes. Purchase a five-class package for just $60 and work out in the comfort and safety of your home. Ten minutes before class starts, you’ll get a Zoom link in your email, as well as a Spotify playlist for the class music.

Destress at Houston Real Estate With Black Swan Yoga Classes

While we try hard to maintain an upbeat attitude on our blog, we know that the coronavirus crisis has brought a lot of stress to Houston homes. Exercise, especially exercise that focuses on breathing, can really help with stress reduction. Yoga is a great choice, and Black Swan Yoga is offering several different ways to safely learn yoga or continue your practice.

There are three Houston studios--in White Oak, Kirby, and Fannin. The White Oak studio has moved all its classes outside. Classes are held in Raven Tower at 310 North Street. The outdoor pavilion allows students to take in-person classes while reducing the risk of contracting COVID-19. Whichever studio you choose to practice at, you’ll need to bring some gear along with you. Bring a yoga mat, a small towel, and a water bottle. You can rent or buy these items in the studio, too.

For those who prefer to practice yoga at home, Black Swan has a couple of great options. You can book live-streamed classes, which appear regularly on the schedule. Beginners should check out the beginning class, designed just for them. There are also power and flow classes offered as live streams. Black Swan is dedicated to being accessible to all, so classes are donation-based, with a suggested donation of $10 to $20 per class. Help support the studio when you purchase a monthly pass for $88, which gives you unlimited access to all classes. You can also find a link on the website to donate to teachers that are currently out of work. Visit the Black Swan Yoga website.

If the regular schedule doesn’t work for you, there’s Black Swan TV. A monthly membership of $8 gets you access to over 500 videos of yoga workouts from multiple teachers. Every time you do a class, it supports the teachers you like. Black Swan TV works across multiple devices, including smartphones, TVs, and computers. Visit BSY.tv to learn more and sign up. Try it free for seven days.

Work Up a Sweat in Houston Homes in the Virtual Studio

Working out alone at your Houston real estate can be intimidating. Are you using the correct form? Are you doing too much cardio or too much strength training? What’s the right balance anyway?! If you’re confused about the right way to work out, Illuminate Sweat is for you. Their program has a great mix of high-intensity interval training (HIIT) along with strength training, which preserves muscles while burning fat.

Illuminate Sweat has reopened, though with reduced capacity, so now is a great time to try out their online offering. For just $49 per month, you can try the Unlimited Online Training. Access live virtual classes. At other times, check out the Elite Virtual Studio. Replay your favorite streamed classes or try out the on-demand library. Read nutrition guides, find playlists to keep you motivated, and listen to podcasts. There’s also a private Facebook group where you can get support and education to continue your fitness journey. Members also get access to private Facebook live events.

Visit Illuminate Sweat online to learn about the virtual studio and sign up. You can also find information on their approach to fitness and nutrition. If you want to try an in-person class at the gym, you can sign up for a free class to see if it’s right for you.

We hope that this list helps everyone to keep busy and stay fit while staying in Houston homes as much as possible. Don’t forget to check out some of our past blogs to find information on live-streamed concerts, art projects for kids and adults, book clubs, cooking classes, and much more.
