Houston Real Estate Owners Shop Local at Eleanora’s Market
The Heights neighborhood is known for its many great shops and restaurants. There’s also an amazing weekly market called Eleanora’s Market held every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The market is held at 2120 Ella Boulevard. Around 30 vendors are present every week. You’ll find super fresh fruits and vegetables, as well as delicious home made food and hand-processed items. Pick up a fresh loaf of bread, jars of honey or salsa, tea, sweets and much more. You can also find fresh seafood, meats, and cheese. Look for handmade soaps, candles, and jewelry, as well as clothing and accessories.
Local farmers, artisans, and nonprofits can apply to become vendors at the market. Interested in volunteering? Get in touch, as the market can always use another pair of hands for set up and take down. Eleanora’s Market would be a great place to take your mom for Mother’s Day. Pick up a cup of tea and a muffin or other snack and browse the vendors together. Or go yourself and find a fresh bouquet of flowers and a heartfelt handmade gift.
Who says the zoo was just for kids? Grown ups from Houston homes get the Houston Zoo to themselves during the summer after-hours series. Anyone 21 and older is welcome at the After Dark events. The first one will be Thursday, May 16th from 6 to 10 p.m. Come for an evening reliving the 90s with a cover band performing favorite tunes, as well as vintage arcade games and huge yard games. Go hear the keepers chat about their animals. There will be talks at the elephants, cougars, and the Reptile and Amphibian House.
Come back Thursday, June 20th for the Lone Star Soiree and check out the newest exhibit, the Kathrine G. McGovern Texas Wetlands. July 18th is Silent Disco night, and guests will find out why dance is so important to the Attwater’s prairie chicken. Finish off the summer series on August 15th at All About That Bubbly. Enjoy Champagne or prosecco, ice sculptures, a photo booth, and up-close encounters with some of the Zoo’s animals. Tickets to the events are $35 each or purchase a pass for the whole series for $120.
